Early next month Totally Wired: Postpunk Interviews and Overviews is published in the USA by Soft Skull. It's the first of three of my books Soft Skull are putting out over the course of the next year: the others are Bring the Noise and Energy Flash.

Totally Wired US is slightly different from its UK incarnation, featuring the "lost" chapter on SST/Los Angeles/"progressive punk", compensation for its inexplicable absence from the US edition of Rip It Up.

There will be a Totally Wired event in Los Angeles
at Book Soup (8818 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood) on September 16th at 7PM - more details of that to come.

This debut EP by Raime is every bit as exciting as advance reports suggested. My first impression--like dubstep if it had sprouted from the blackened womb of Dead Can Dance rather than the nuum's fecund matrix--turns out to be not far off the mark, juding by the mix Raime recently did for Exotic Pylon (now available here, and here), which features tracks by early 4AD signing Rema Rema, The Danse Society, and AC Marias. More information on the mix's tracklist, and on the EP (self-titled, due September 13 on Blackest Ever Black) is available here.

caution: you are now entering a theory zone

or you will be if you click on this link to "The History of Our World", an essay I wrote for issue #2 of scholarly e-music journal Dancecult, addressing the hardcore continuum debate of last year.
Found Objects = "hauntological dumping ground" = a collective blog. Launched by Mark K-Punk and featuring a cast of dozens--including yours truly with the occasional opaque contribution.
